TURKEY'S HIGHLIGHTS

TURKEY'S HIGHLIGHTS

Istanbul

The proud capital of many civilizations, today Istanbul remains Turkey’s cultural capital. This historic metropolis boasts many of the country’s greatest man-made relics, and each era left its distinctive marks upon the city. The Byzantine’s unforgettable highlights including, the Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern and Chora Church demonstrate the city’s grand heritage. The Sultanic opulence of the Ottoman empire which followed brought with it splendors like the Topkapi Palace and Blue and Süleymaniye Mosques. Finally, the European influence upon Istanbul’s modern era is unmistakable with examples such as the elegant Dolmabahçe Palace and prominent Taksim district. In addition to discovering Istanbul’s historical wonders, exploring the city’s splendid spice markets, grand bazaars and winding Bosphorus Strait are also a must on any luxury tour of Turkey.

Cappadocia

This semi-arid region of central Turkey is full of unique geological wonders and ancient remnants of past civilizations. Cappadocia is home to several UNESCO world heritage sites including the dreamlike Open Air Museum, with its “fairy-chimney” rock formations, in which Christian churches were carved directly into the rock itself. The dramatic lunar landscape and array of multi-colored valleys lends itself perfectly to a private hot air balloon ride, where travelers can truly appreciate this surreal spectacle in an unforgettable experience. In addition to its historical ruins and outstanding natural beauty, Cappadocia is a center for living culture as well, having been a magnet for artisans, potters, and silk makers for millennia.

Ephesus Region

A region of unbelievable historical significance, Ephesus was a hub of Mediterranean commerce, culture, and people over many centuries. The city itself is widely regarded as one of the most well-preserved ancient cities in the whole of the Western world. A must-see for any history enthusiast, Ephesus’ Temple of Artemis is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Highlights also include the preserved Library of Celsus (built in 120 A.D.), which is one of the most prominent examples of Greek civilization surviving today.

Aegean Coast

Along the shoreline of South-Western Turkey lies the pristine Aegean Coast. With its alluring blue waters and picturesque coves, inlets, and bays, this has become known as the “Turkish Riviera” or “Turquoise Coast”. The ideal place for taking time out to relax, the elegant Amanruya property directly faces the Aegean Sea and offers guests the chance to reconnect and rejuvenate. There is also to explore the coast’s secluded islands aboard a private gület.

Overall, we had an amazing trip. We love the way Blue Parallel work and were happy that everything was pre-planned for in advance, with attention to lots of small details. We were very impressed by Cappadocia and were amazed at how beautiful it genuinely was. We enjoyed all the activities, particularly the outdoor picnic. We loved our guide in Istanbul; he was very knowledgeable and flexible with the day-to-day activities. A highlight was the hammam treatment! The private yacht that took us along the Bosphorus was perfect.

Turkey is a fascinating country and Blue Parallel designed a spectacular itinerary for us. Our guide Leyla was fabulous and contributed so much to our overall experience. She was extremely knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor and was constantly thinking of how best to organize our time in order to ensure that we experienced as much as possible. The food, sights, hotels were all top notch and I thank Blue Parallel for another superb holiday.

We enjoyed the trip to Turkey and Greece very much. We had some terrific experiences and both thought you organized the whole trip very well. It turned out to be an exciting affair on July 5th on our last night in Athens when we were witnessing the Greek people celebrating the No vote all night in Syntagma Square. Thank you for your help. It was much appreciated.
