Inca Trail Trek (3 nights)
Arrive to Piscaycucho by private transfer to begin your luxury multi-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail is part of the vast Qhapaq Ñan, a 15,000-mile network that once connected the heart of the Inca Empire across modern-day Colombia, western Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, central Chile, and the north of Argentina. Begin your trek by crossing the Urubamba river, with Mount Veronica rising majestically beside you. Hike through a forest of giant cacti and native brush to reach the small village of Miskay. There, ascend to Willkaraccay overlooking the Cuischaca River before stopping in Tayaroc for a delicious lunch. End your day’s journey in Huayllamaba, where you will settle into your luxury camp for the night and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your private chef.
The next day, after breakfast, start your journey towards the Ayapata Valley along a gentle stream before gaining nearly 4,000 feet in elevation. Admire the views of Apu Huayanay Mountain in the distance as you continue to Lulluchapampa Valley. There you can admire the region’s vast birdlife, such as hummingbirds, falcons, and black-chested buzzard eagles. Continue your ascent to the Warmiwañusca Mountain (Dead Woman’s Pass) before descending into Pacaymayo Valley. Admire the snow-covered peaks and misty views across the mountains, and take in the valley with its waterfall below. Upon arrival, settle into your luxury camp and savor a delicious dinner prepared specially for you.
The next day, hike toward the Runkurakay Ruins, thought to have once been a kind of way post for couriers following the trail to Machu Picchu. Continue up the second pass until you reach your stopping point at a steep ancient staircase. Then, hike to the Pumasillo (Puma’s Claw) massif and begin your descent, passing through a short tunnel and along a series of switchbacks as well as by an emerald, algae-covered lake. Stop in Chakicocha to savor lunch before finishing your day in Phuyupatamarca, where you will relax in your luxury campsite.
Machu Picchu (1 night)
Rise early before sunrise and begin your hike passing through Intipata and Wiñaywayna until you arrive at the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) overlooking Machu Picchu. Make your way down the path to the upper south sector of the sanctuary, overlooking lush rainforest tucked away in the heart of the Andes Mountains. Enjoy time to explore the Machu Picchu ruins with your expert guide before heading to your luxury accommodations, where you can relax at leisure before savoring dinner at the property.
Cusco (2 nights)
Continue your exploration of the area the next morning as you head back to the site to discover this Incan wonder at dawn. Enjoy time for additional hiking, which will be tailored to your activity level and preferences. Then, take a train back to the Sacred Valley, where you will be transferred in private to Cusco. Enjoy a privately guided tour of the Sacsayhuaman ruins which overlook the city before later watching an exclusive music demonstration performed by a local musician.
The next day, step back in time at the Museum of pre-columbian Art, where you can learn about the artistic traditions of the Incas and other pre-columbian societies. Continue to the San Pedro Market, where you will be introduced to Peru’s wide variety of colorful produce by a Peruvian chef before an interactive cooking demonstration in a local restaurant. Learn firsthand how to prepare some of the country’s top dishes, and savor the fruits of your labor. Then, depart on a private sightseeing tour of Cusco, where you will see the city’s key highlights including the Plaza de Armas, several colonial-era churches, and Qorikancha, once the most important Incan temple to Inti, the sun god. Each evening in Cusco, enjoy dining at one of the city’s many restaurants featuring local cuisine and fusion meals.
End your tour of Peru and the Inca Trail by departing for the airport via private transfer for your international departure flight back home. Luggage and check-in assistance will be provided.
