Following your arrival into Panama City airport, there’s a 30-minute transfer to your hotel in the Casco Viejo (Old Quarter). Settled in 1673, the Casco Viejo was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city (Panamá Viejo) in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997. Start your luxury Panama vacation with a visit to the innovative biodiversity museum designed by “starchitect” Frank Gehry. The colorful origami-like canopies were inspired by Panama’s diverse flora and fauna, as Panama is among the world’s most biodiverse countries. In the evening, dine in a trendy Panamanian restaurant in the Casco Viejo.
The following day, embark on a walking tour with your expert guide and explore the quaint streets of Casco Viejo, stopping along the way for a private coffee tasting. Later, enjoy an exclusive VIP tour of the Panama Canal. You’ll get a first-hand feel for the canal’s history, economic importance and engineering brilliance. Accompanied by an expert engineer, enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the canal at the Miraflores Lock where you’ll have exclusive access to view the ships up close as they change levels via the locks, making their journey from the Atlantic to the Pacific. You’ll have the chance to watch an IMAX documentary on the history of the canal, before continuing your tour to the old barracks where American workers used to live. For an additional insider experience, you may opt for a partial crossing of the Panama Canal in your own private yacht, accompanied by the same expert engineer.
End your Panama City tour with a visit to the indigenous Emberá community within the Chagres National Park. Known for its extraordinary biodiversity and high concentration of endangered species, this vast protected area safeguards pristine rainforest, winding rivers, and vital freshwater reserves that supply the Panama Canal. Glide along Chagres River in a traditional canoe, and head into the jungle to meet members of the community, also known as the Guardians of the Panama Canal Jungle. During your visit, you’ll learn more about their culture and traditions, as they share stories, dances, crafts and traditional food. Return to the city and savor a delicious meal at one of the top restaurants in the area.
Leave the city behind for Panama’s private Pacific islands. After a 1 hour flight to David, transfer in private to Boca Chica followed by a short boat ride to Isla Palenque. Your private casita awaits just steps from a private beach. Set among 400 acres of enchanting jungle, the resort offers untouched beaches, wilderness trails, stunning ocean views, and plenty of tucked away, tranquil spaces to discover. Relax and enter island mode as you enjoy a delicious dinner and cocktail under tropical palms.
On the next day of your luxury Panama tour, enjoy an island hopping boating excursion in the Gulf of Chiriquí National Marine Park. Your personal guide will take you by private motorboat to deserted Isla Bolaños to enjoy its five beautiful white sand beaches, snorkeling among the abundant sea life in the turquoise waters, and a picnic lunch just for you under the tropical palms. As you cruise across the blue sea, catch sight of jumping fish, dolphins and rays.
The following morning, depart from Isla Palenque and cruise through the crystalline waters to your exclusive resort in the remote archipelago of Islas Secas, where you can enjoy lunch. The beautiful island property of Islas Secas is dedicated to the conservation of their pristine natural surroundings, from iguanas and rare bird species to vibrant flowers and endemic plants. In the afternoon, embark with your personal guide on your motorboat along the shores of Islas Secas’s 14 pristine islands, where you can go snorkeling, scuba diving or fishing, according to your interests. In the evening, enjoy deliciously fresh Panamanian cuisine at Islas Secas’s beachside Terraza restaurant, which features a menu of delicious ocean-to-table cuisine.
After breakfast the next day, take an all-day boating excursion to nearby Coiba National Marine Park, a UNESCO-designated Protected Marine Area, where you will have the opportunity to hike through the islands’ ancient forest, spotting endemic wildlife such as the Coiba Howler Monkey, and snorkeling or world-class scuba diving at a protected reef. A fresh picnic lunch will be prepared for you during the excursion.
On the next day, head out early for a world-class fishing expedition, where your expert guide will help you reel in snapper, roosterfish, and grouper inshore near Islas Secas. You may choose to head a bit farther out to the legendary Hannibal Bank and Isla Montuosa for sportfishing for huge blue and black marlin, sailfish, and trophy sized yellowfin tuna.
Alternatively, you can also enjoy some world class snorkeling or diving within the archipelago of Isla Secas, or enjoy the pristine beaches of Isla Pargo.
On the last day of your private Panama tour, bid these secluded islands farewell and take a charter flight from Islas Secas to Panama City in time for your international flight back home.
