How Did You First Hear About Blue Parallel?
My sister runs a luxury travel company that operates throughout Asia, with whom I have traveled several times. We knew we wanted to visit Latin America and she recommended Blue Parallel.

How Did You Find Your Pre-Trip Experience With Your Personal Travel Expert?
We had some initial ideas of what we wanted to do and see in Panama, as well as some goals for the trip based on our own research. Blue Parallel did an excellent job understanding what mattered most to us and crafting an itinerary based on that.
They also expanded our itinerary with new suggestions that we hadn’t previously considered. We hadn’t thought about visiting the Caribbean side of Panama, but listened to their recommendations and that region ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip.

Did You Feel Supported By The Blue Parallel Team During Your Trip?
We felt extremely supported throughout our journey and the team maintained great communication at every stage.
For example, we needed to contact our guide to explain travel delays on our first morning and the team quickly stepped in to resolve it.
We also requested a last-minute change to go birding while in the Caribbean and Blue Parallel changed the itinerary on the fly, very quickly finding an excellent local guide to accompany us.
Everything felt seamless from start to finish.
Can You Share Your ‘Wow Moments’ Of This Trip?
My three favorite wow moments from this trip were:
1. A luxury treehouse stay in Bocas del Toro
Staying in a luxury treehouse on Panama’s Caribbean coast was really cool. Opening the doors each morning to the incredible views surrounding Nayara Bocas del Toro felt incredibly special. We didn’t want to leave!
2. Rare Wildlife Encounters
As enthusiastic birders, we were thrilled about all the opportunities to bird watch on this trip. Seeing a Harpy Eagle in the wild was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. We also spotted a Resplendent Quetzal in Boquete, another unforgettable experience.

3. VIP Access At The Panama Canal
Blue Parallel organized a VIP tour of the Panama Canal, where we had the opportunity to speak with a woman working on-site, as well as one of the top engineers. Having these experts there with us made the experience deeply personal and insightful.
Which Was Your Favorite Accommodation, And Why?
The treehouse in the Caribbean stood out the most. It was unique, immersive, and its location was something so different from traditional accommodations.
Did The Guides And Experiences Meet Your Expectations?
The guides were exceptional across the board.
Daniel was with us for much of the trip and took exceptional care of us. Having him across multiple destinations brought a sense of consistency and allowed us to really get to know him. He was also super knowledgeable, especially as a birder, and he knew how to avoid other travelers, so we really felt truly alone.
Our birding guide in the Darién region was also outstanding and helped us experience something rare with the Harpy Eagle sighting.
Each guide felt carefully chosen and deeply connected to their region.
How Valuable Was The Team’s Insider Knowledge And Experience?
It made all the difference. Experiences like the Panama Canal would have been far less meaningful without the insider access and privacy that Blue Parallel organized for us.
At a coffee plantation, we were guided by the owner himself, who shared his personal story and family history. Those kinds of connections turn a visit into something much more memorable.

Do You Feel The Itinerary Was Tailored To You?
Yes, completely. The team really listened to what we enjoy and built the trip around that.
They also managed logistics carefully, such as timing our birding excursions so we had locations to ourselves, which made the experiences even more special.
What Were The Other Highlights Of Your Trip?
We really enjoyed our breakfasts overlooking the water at the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo in Panama City. It was an ideal and calming way to start each day.
Another highlight was the food in Bocas del Toro. Our guide learned our preferences very quickly and the culinary experiences were really tailored to us.
Is There Anything You Would Have Done Differently?
We ended up having more downtime than expected in Boquete and if we were to return, we would have planned more activities and excursions.
