Your luxury Machu Picchu tour starts as you land in Lima, where you will be greeted by your personal host and taken to your hotel.
Receive assistance with check-in for your flight to Cusco the following morning. Upon arrival, your personal guide will show you the best of the Sacred Valley. Highlights include a multi-course Peruvian lunch at the elegant Hacienda Huayoccari, served in the historic dining room surrounded by colonial art. Afterward, go horseback riding along local trails on Peruvian Paso horses, a unique breed known for its smooth ride. Along the way, take in spectacular views of the Andes and the lush valley’s agricultural farms. Alternatively, you can experience a Shaman meditation ceremony arranged especially for your private party after lunch. Finally, spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at your lodge in the heart of the Sacred Valley before witnessing a traditional Peruvian Paso horse show while savoring an alfresco dinner.
The next day, head by private transfer to Laguna Huaypo, where you will embark on an exciting mountain biking excursion over the rolling hills of the valley to the terraced ruins of Moray for a privately guided tour. Along the way, enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch with views of the impressive Andes before continuing your luxury tour of Peru with a private transfer to Maras, a pre-Incan site that has continuously produced salt for centuries. The terraces are divided into over 3,000 salt pools still harvested to this day by local families. You will then return to your lodge to rest before visiting the highlight of any luxury Peru tour: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu.
Experience an awe-inspiring train ride along the towering Andes and the Quechua-speaking villages of the Sacred Valley as you head toward Machu Picchu on board the luxurious Hiram Bingham train. Alternatively, you can disembark the train at kilometer 104 and hike the last portion of the Inca Trail with your personal guide (passing through the Gate of the Sun).
Your expert guide will greet you and take you to this iconic archaeological site, sharing expert insight into its significance and history. Later, return to the enchanting Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel which is nestled between steep mountain walls of Andean greenery in the valley below the ruins.
The next morning, rise early and discover hikes around Machu Picchu at dawn, as the mist clears from the mountains. Trek to the Gate of the Sun, or ascend Machu Picchu Mountain where you can take in the views of the Andes’ peaks. Blue Parallel will plan your daily hikes based on your activity level and interests. Return to your hotel before continuing your private Peru tour with a luxury train ride back to the Sacred Valley, where you will head to Cusco, the city of the “Children of the Sun.” Before reaching your luxury hotel in Cusco, enjoy a privately guided tour of the Sacsayhuaman ruins that overlook the city. Later, enjoy an exclusive music demonstration by a local musician before savoring a recommended dinner.
In Cusco, you can choose between two luxury hotels: Palacio Nazarenas, a former palace and convent dating back to the 16th century; or Monasterio Hotel, a monastery that was originally built in 1592 by descendants of the Spanish Conquistadores.
The following day, visit the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art with your expert guide and learn more about the artistic traditions and cultural practices of different pre-Columbian societies, including the Inca Empire. Then visit Cusco’s famed San Pedro Market with a local chef and discover an incredible array of local produce. Following your tour, take part in an interactive cooking demonstration at the chef’s local kitchen before dining on fruits of your labor. Afterward, depart on a private guided tour of the main attractions of Cusco, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Company of Jesus Church, La Merced Church, and Qorikancha, which was once the most important Incan temple to the sun god Inti. In the evening, enjoy Cusco’s dynamic nightlife – the city is home to a choice of excellent restaurants and bars.
Your luxury Machu Picchu tour ends with a final lunch on the Plaza de Armas before departing for the airport for your international flight back home via Lima. With only a few hours left of your private Peru tour, relax with a day-check at the airport hotel next door before your late evening flight.
