Our Story
For a recent interview, please refer to 100 Thousand Club.
  • After taking a year-long sabbatical from his investment banking job at Credit Suisse to explore the world, Emmanuel Burgio wanted to share his passion for adventure and founded Blue Parallel in 2002.
  • The company launched with long weekend escapes from New York to Machu Picchu. Our travelers would leave their office on Thursday evening, explore the Peruvian Andes on Friday, hike the last portion of the Inca Trail on Saturday, visit the ruins of Machu Picchu on Sunday, discover the fascinating city of Cusco on Monday, and be back in the office on Tuesday morning. The feedback we received was very encouraging as our travelers felt they had experienced a very special moment with us.
  • We then progressively expanded our offerings within South America to other destinations focusing on the United Nations' World Heritage List – the glaciers of Patagonia, the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Lake District in Argentina, the island archipelago of Angra dos Reis in Brazil, the Iguassu Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina, the Amazon, the Galapagos Islands, the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha off of the northeastern coast of Brazil and the diverse landscapes of the Argentine northwest, among others. Responding to the demands of our returning travelers wanting to experience Blue Parallel journeys in new destinations, we decided in 2007 to expand our reach to Central America, with offerings to-date in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.

  • Blue Parallel has become the go-to travel service for anyone who wants the top of the line Latin American experience. We have hosted numerous prestigious travelers since inception, and have been regularly asked to coordinate fascinating side projects. For example, world-renowned National Geographic photographer Bobby Haas retained Blue Parallel to plan the logistics for his dizzying aerial photographic book of Latin America (“Through the Eyes of the Condor”). International adventurers have called Blue Parallel for everything from solo wilderness expeditions into the Guyana jungle to tours of investment opportunities throughout the continent.
