Blue Parallel was founded in 2002 by Emmanuel Burgio, a former member of Credit Suisse First Boston's investment banking group. After traveling extensively around the globe, Emmanuel was inspired to create Blue Parallel Inc., a travel company that would take discerning travelers to some of the most spectacular natural and cultural wonders on Earth.
We started by operating long weekend escapes to Machu Picchu in Peru. Our travelers would leave their office on Thursday evening, discover the fascinating city of Cusco on Friday, play with llamas in the Peruvian Andes on Saturday, hike the last portion of the Inca Trail on Sunday, drink champagne in the heart of the Machu Picchu ruins on Monday evening and be back in the office on Wednesday morning! The feedback we received was very encouraging as all our travelers felt they had experienced a very special moment with us.
We then progressively expanded our offerings within South America to other destinations falling under the United Nations' World Heritage List – the Glaciers of Patagonia, the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Pantanal in Brazil, the Lake District in Argentina, the Iguassu Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina, the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands, among others. We have proudly been arranging private, custom-made itineraries throughout South America for our discerning travelers during the past five years.
Responding to the demands of our returning travelers wanting to experience Blue Parallel journeys in new destinations, we decided in 2007 to expand our reach to Central America. We are currently developing deluxe, tailor-made escapes to some of the most spectacular natural and cultural wonders of this region.
In addition, Blue Parallel has been engaged in a fascinating aerial photography project over Latin America. We were approached in early 2005 by Robert Haas, a predominant figure in the investment world and a highly successful National Geographic photographer. Bobby had just finished the shooting for his widely acclaimed aerial photography book over Africa “Through the Eyes of the Gods”, and asked Blue Parallel to manage all the logistics for his new “baby” – an extensive multi-year aerial photography project documenting the most spectacular highlights of South and Central America from the air. The new book “Through the Eyes of the Condor” has been published by National Geographic and has received much critical acclaim. Blue Parallel has been working with Haas on his third “Through the Eyes” project, helping with the research and coordination of logistics for aerial photography in countries with territory in the Arctic Circle.
Blue Parallel today consists of a team of travel professionals led by Emmanuel Burgio. We have offices in Maryland, USA, and in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and we have extensive on-site staff in the destinations where we operate. We have all traveled extensively to these destinations and have banded together with the common goal of passing on our passion for adventure and discovery travel to our clients.
